Obituary

Surrounded by his family, Morley Arthur Pedwell passed away peacefully on September 3, 2022, at the age of 84 years.

Morley was born on January 21, 1938, to parents Emmeline and Charles Pedwell on a farm near Spalding, Saskatchewan.

At an early age Morley excelled in school and in creating innovative solutions to problems.  He was the fixer and builder on the farm, and these traits and his love of learning followed him throughout his life.

Like so many other young men, Morley left the farm to begin a new journey. He followed his older brother Milt to Flin Flon.  In 1957 he began working at HBMS and shortly after, started an electrical apprenticeship.  Morley loved his work as an electrician and electrical designer, and he continued to work and design projects right up until last fall.  He was still able to climb 3 levels of scaffold to wire a ceiling fan 17 feet in the air at the age of 83.

Back in the early days of Flin Flon, Morley and his friend Adolf would frequent the Northern Café.  On one fateful day, a Charlotte Misling happened to be there with her friend Trudy.  Charlotte and Morley hit it off right away and were married on September 15, 1962.  At the time of Morley’s passing they were just 12 days shy of their 60th Wedding Anniversary.

Three children, Bev, Patty and Kevin followed.  With kids in tow Morley and Charlotte shared many adventures:  canoe trips, fishing, exploring any point of interest no matter how remote or difficult to get there and, of course, camping.  Iskwasum was a favourite place to go and continued to be, long after the children grew up.   They enjoyed returning year after year and made many lifelong friends from their shared love of the area.  Morley and Charlotte instilled a sense of adventure and a love of the outdoors in their children and grandchildren.

Sport and activity were favourite ways for Morley to pass his time.  As a young man in Spalding, he was the goalie for the local Spalding team.  Once in Flin Flon, curling became his passion.  He had so many wonderful years curling with his friends Glen, Gary, Mike and Adolf.  He enjoyed fastball, and he also spent many an evening out on the golf course with his son Kevin.  As time went by, and Morley retired, he walked every day.  On Friday mornings he would head out to Debbie Hiebert’s with his daughter Patty to walk the SPCA dogs, making sure each dog had a walk and special one–on-one time.

Drawing, and later painting, became favourite pastimes for Morley.  But his priority right up to his final days was his family.  His unwavering love, patience, guidance and the selfless giving of his time were felt by all.  He is missed beyond words.  Morley is survived by his loving wife Charlotte, his daughter Patty (Greg), son Kevin (Cyndi) Tori and Ryan , (Marshall) Jessie and Mike, his brother Milt (Curtis and Lynn) and fur grandbabies Sawyer and Josie.

Morley was predeceased by his beloved daughter Bev, parents Emmeline and Charlie, and brother Bob.

You are no longer by our side Dad, but you will remain forever in our hearts.
