Mary Fullerton Obituary

Mary "Biz" Fullerton of Flin Flon, Manitoba, passed away Monday, January 2, 2023 at the age of 55 years at the Flin Flon General Hospital. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday July 8, 2023 from 1-5 pm at the Rotary Wheel in Flin Flon, Manitoba.

If friends so desire memorial tributes may be made to the Addiction Foundation of Manitoba 2-53 Main Street Flin Flon, Manitoba R8A1J7.

Our beloved sister, wife and friend Mary-Elizabeth ( “Biz” ) Fullerton passed away suddenly on January 2nd, 2023, one day before her fifty-sixth birthday.

Many lives were defined by the life Biz led and those she touched.
Her energy and life force were apparent in every room she entered.
To say she was the life of every party would be an understatement.
She was the party!
Her close friend Lori - Biz had a magical way of making people feel heard, understood, important and loved. She gave the best hugs and had the most contagious laugh.

Biz was selfless, taking such care of those close to her, especially her husband of 30 years, Sheldon, the great love of her life. She loved cooking for Sheldon, joining him on fishing trips, gardening, or just relaxing in the backyard.
She was his life as he was hers. She loved to FaceTime with her grand-babies and support her stepson Eric - Biz always listened and never judged, giving me the tools I needed to take on the world.

Biz left an indelible mark on the lives of her students at Frontier Collegiate Institute in Cranberry Portage, Manitoba, where she worked as a counsellor. Former students recently shared that they considered Biz their second mother, revelling in her deep compassion and understanding, never judging those who came before her seeking help and guidance.
Former colleague Sheri recalls - It struck me how Biz loved every one of the 300+ kids in the FCI residence. They adored her; she was their biggest advocate. Once you were one of Momma Biz’s kids, you were always one of Momma Biz’s kids.

When there was a crisis, she was the one bringing kids into the hospital; she stood by them every step of an often-heartbreaking way. She could have had any other staff member do many of the jobs she did, but she wanted to be there personally for the kids and to help her staff. After leaving FCI, Biz worked at the Women's Resource Center in Flin Flon, finishing her career at the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba and retiring on January 28th, 2021.

Mary-Liz is survived by her husband, Sheldon, stepson Eric, and grandchildren, Evie Rae and Mason; siblings, Marni, Donald (Kim), and Nancy (Cameron); nieces and nephews, David, Aleana (Taylor), Ceira, Michael, Ian, Jack, Beck and Scotia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Gerald Fullerton, her sister Lisa
and brother John.

Whether we knew her as Mary-Liz, Mary or Biz, what remained the same for all
of us was the blessing of being able to say that we were loved by her, as she was,
so deeply by all of us.

 You will never be forgotten.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
How do you know Mary Fullerton?
We are sorry for your loss.
Help others honor Mary's memory.
