Gaetan Ouellet Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of their father, Gaetan Ouellet, on January 14, 2022 in his 76th year, with his children by his side.

Gaetan was born in Saint-Andre Kamouraska, Quebec in 1945 and continued to live in Quebec until he moved to Cranberry Portage, Manitoba in 1974 to follow his passion for logging and pursue his own logging business. When logging slowed down he opened a successful convenience store in Cranberry Portage and was known in the community for always being gentle and kind to his customers. Once again in 1995 Gaetan followed his desire for logging and moved to Green Lake, SK to work for a contractor until 2015. In 2015 he returned to Cranberry Portage and semi-retired. Fully retiring in 2019.

In his retirement years Gaetan loved to garden and enjoyed having beautiful flowers and vegetables decorating his deck. He welcomed family and friends to join him on his deck for jokes and laughs and you could always see him through his kitchen window waving at you with a big smile when you drove by. He will be forever missed.

A beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be lovingly remembered by his son Martin (Donna) Ouellet and his daughter Lucie (Marco) Sousa, his four grandchildren Jarrett, Jayden, Julianna and Angelina and his close nephew Ghislain Lavoie (Lene). Also cherishing his memory are his siblings Claude (Sandra) Ouellet of Quebec, Marcel Ouellet of Alberta, Yves (Louise) Ouellet of Quebec, Solange (Jacquelin) Brogan of Quebec and Micheline (Denis) Miville of Quebec, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his mother Lucie, his father Emile, brother Real, brother Gilbert and sister Denise of Quebec.

Special gratitude goes out to the staff at the Flin Flon general hospital for their utmost compassion, care and support throughout Gaetan`s short but courageous battle with cancer.

A celebration of life for Gaetan will be held at a later date in Cranberry Portage, Manitoba.
