Doug Slater longtime resident of Flin Flon, Manitoba passed away Tuesday March 7, 2023 at the age of 93 years.
Doug was born June 13, 1929 in The Pas, MB as there was no maternity ward in Flin Flon at the time.
Doug was an avid trout fisherman with multiple Master Anglers as well as a talented water-skier. He was the first in Canada and second in North America to kite ski with a kite he made by hand. Doug worked at HBM&S for 40 years with most of this time in the Electrical field. In the 70’s, he also designed, created and patented The Slater Lure - a line of fishing hooks with a unique treble hook design - that is still being sold across Canada today.
Doug is survived by his wife Cheryl and children Kevin Slater (Francine), Arla McGregor (John), Ken Lundgren and Cory Slater (Yulanda). He has numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He will be missed.
