Bernard Miller Jr. Obituary

On February 23rd, 2023, at the age of 44 years, Bernard Paul Miller Junior walked into the heavenly arms of his grandparents Ernie and Eileen Gamblin, Theresa Kwissiwa and Russell Miller Sr, and those of his loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.

His mom, Cathy Jenks, his father Bernie Miller Sr, his sisters Crystal Gayle Miller, Nicole Miller, his brother Russell Miller, his niece Kaidynce Miller and Aunt Collette Aubin were with him as he began his new journey, and at his release from this life they embraced his Spirit with Everlasting Love.

In Bernie's final act of his well known compassion for others, he has brought renewed life to four other people by gifting his lungs, his kidneys, pancreas, and his liver; in hopes of lessening their burdens in this world.

Bernie Jr was born on August 17th 1978 to his parents Cathy and Bernie Sr.  He grew up surrounded by family and friends in the communities of Cranberry Portage MB, Thompson MB, and Marathon ONT.  Sonny/Bones (as he was known by many when he was younger), was an athlete beyond compare. He was a very skilled hockey player and along with his little brother Russell, commanded attention on the ice. Their parents and sister Crystal were always close by in the stands to cheer them on and celebrate every win.

A Smiley guy. That’s who Sonny was. The biggest and brightest light shone through him as he greeted every single person with a smile. He made you feel like you were the most important person in the world with that smile.

He loved spending a lot of time with friends and family, cooking for them and all the while dancing to his favorite music. His laugh was absolutely contagious and soon everyone around him would be laughing along with him.

Bernie’s greatest treasure was his son Isaac Hewson. They were truly what was meant when someone spoke of “twinning”. Same beautiful smile. Same pure heart. We hope Isaac is always reminded of the great heart he comes from. He is Bernie’s blessing.

All children that Bernie knew and spent time with were celebrated by him during every interaction. He loved making them smile, laugh, and helping them any way he could.

Bernie Jr (Dee Hewsen) is survived by his parents Cathy (Lee) Jenks, Bernie Miller Sr, his son Isaac Hewson, his sister Crystal Miller (Zach Settee), his sister Nicole Miller, his brother Russell Miller, his brother Dallas Miller, Nephews Riley Bisson-Miller, Andrew Miller, Matt McDonagh-Forest, Aiden Miller, Christian Miller, Cruz Miller, Dallas Miller Jr and Nieces Kaidynce Miller, Kathleen McDonagh-Forest, Haivyn Miller; along with many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.

Bernie Jr was predeceased by grandparents Eileen and Ernest Gamblin, Theresa Kwissiwa, Russell Miller Sr, along with his beloved Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Bernard Paul Miller Jr was a Warrior. He battled many obstacles in his life but always managed to come out on top. Through his struggles he knew he would come home again one day. Today is that day. His pain is gone and he walks hand in hand with his family who were there to welcome him. Still smiling.
