Alex "Scotty" Graham

Alexander Graham was born in Stirling Scotland in 1938, at age 18 he enlisted in the Army and was on Christmas Island where he was a cook.

After his service, he returned to Stirling and was a butcher.

He married Helen Ferguson in March of 1964. 

Helen and him moved to Canada & lived in Prince Albert, SK,

In 1969 Alex was hired at HBM&S in Flon Flon as a painter. 

In 1977 they welcomed their adopted daughter, Lorna Schalynne. Alex loved to travel with his family. There were many trips back to Scotland to see family & friends. Also Australia, Hawaii, Fiji, London, & Newfoundland.

In 1994 Helen passed away from cancer. 

In 1998 Alex married Alta, the 2 spent the next year's together travelling and enjoying life in Flin Flon. . 

He would try anything once. He was very adventurous. 

He was a golfer, who was in many a tournament all over Canada and some in the states. He even golfed on the famous St Andrew's course. Alex loved to take his golf clubs with him and try out the course wherever he went.

Alex was also a fisherman. He loved his " boys weekends" at the cabin.

He also curled for a number of years, & participated in bonspiels throughout Canada. 

 He also loved animals and all animals loved him. He would often go spend the day at Lori and Roger's " to keep the dogs company"  

Schay's dogs loved visits with Grandpa too.. As soon as he got there, they were "his boys" & they never left his side.

Playing Santa was another thing that he loved to do. He would be driven around by his "reindeer" and would knock on the window to let the kids know that Santa had arrived. He had so much fun doing this.

Scotty also loved to make his famous steak pie. This was his signature dish and he loved to make them for friends and family. If you've ever had one, you know exactly what we mean. It's incredible. 

Alex also loved to help out in any way he could, whether that was painting, helping you with any home projects, to helping veterans with paperwork so they could get all the benefits they were eligible for. 

Alex was also very involved with the legion. He was president for 2 years. He ran pool tournaments in the clubroom. He was always willing to pitch in and help with events being held upstairs, carving turkeys, decorating, and setting up. Whatever was needed, he would do. 

He was always a part of the Rememberance day services and sold poppies every year. He would often go to the schools and do the rememberance day service. His grandkids were so proud that their granpda was "an army man" and we're excited to have him at the school, dressed in him in his legion regalia.

Hockey was another thing that Alex loved. The Montreal Canadians were his team, despite us telling him they "weren't even good" 

He also loved to go to Bomber games with Roger. 

Alex loved all of his friends and loved to socialize. Everywhere we went, he knew someone,and if he didn't, he definitely did before we left. Everyone liked him and he made friends easily. Flin Flon will not be the same without him
