It was with great sadness we learned of Jim’s passing. Such wonderful times we had in the Cowboy Action Shooting arena. Jim aka “Nine Toe” was such a character. You could always be assured of a good fun with him around. I remember in Cody, WO when him and my husband got picked to judge the saloon gal contest and there was only one quite shy gal who entered. The town got one of their actresses to join the fun to liven thing up – and it sure did! Then there was the time we were dancing in the “49er” Saloon at Fort Kusk. It wasn’t a big building – lots of rocking chairs around the pot belly stove. Well Jim got those long arms and legs all tangled up with one of those chairs and made a miraculous and hilarious recovery! Hadn’t see Jim, his dear wife Madeline or son Myles for many years as once Fort Kusk was no more they did not come to Albert to shoot. Always did hope to see him again. Have missed you, old friend, and will now miss you forever. Hugs, Love to Family. Bette Lou “Buckeye Belle” and Melvin "Whiskey Coulie" Thompson.

So sorry to have lost a great friend and fellow Cowboy Action shooter. God has received a fine man. May all who knew and loved him keep his memories alive in your hearts. Take those memories out often and rejoice in a life lived to the fullest.

Such sad news. My sincere condolences to the family. Jim was a true legend in our Credit Union system in Manitoba, someone who loved to work hard, play hard and loved people. I was proud to call him a friend and I’ll miss him and his great sense of humour. RIP Jim. Enjoy the black powder shooting up there!

I'm so very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I will cherish all the laughs and good chats we had when I worked at chicken chef. I always looked forward to seeing everyone on Mondays. My deepest condolences to everyone.
