It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mabel Parshall announce her passing on February 1, 2020.
Mabel Norma Parshall was born December 8, 1920 to Norman and Marian (nee Currie) MacLellan in Wadena, Saskatchewan. In 1937 Mabel, her mother, brothers Stan and Gordon joined their father and Uncle John in Flin Flon. Mabel went to secretarial school in Winnipeg and worked at the Royal Bank.
She returned to Flin Flon and married Reg McInnis in 1946 and they were blessed to have their daughter Anita. They spent many summers at Bakers Narrows. Mabel loved to water ski, play bridge, dance, curl, entertain and travel. After the loss of Reg, she met and married Ed Gauthier and they spent many years wintering in Mercedes, Texas. She very much enjoyed her job at the School Division office in the 70’s. Mabel was delighted to become a grandmother to Tania and Krista during these years. After Ed passed away, Mabel continued to go to Mercedes and met and married Jim Parshall. After his passing she continued to return to Mercedes and looked forward to summers at the lake. In 2018, after 39 years of winter in Texas, she decided it was time to stay home and winter in Flin Flon. She enjoyed her little apartment at the Legion Housing where she stayed until the day of her passing.
Mabel continued to enjoy many outings and as always, was the life of the party. Her laugh could always be heard and will now be forever missed. She was a remarkable woman who will be dearly missed. Mabel is survived by her daughter Anita (Jim) Perchaluk and their two daughters Tania (Dave) Swanton and children Kyler and Layne of Dauphin, MB and Krista (Shane) Silva and children Maverick and Wyatt of Newcastle, ON; her nieces Diane (Dave) Foley of Moose Jaw, Shirley (David) Fortier of Flin Flon and Beverley MacLellan of Saskatoon. She is also survived by Laurelle White, Diane LaSchiazza, Bob (Cheryl) Gauthier, Doug (Dolley) Gauthier; Janet (Jim) Rudd and Leroy (Al) Yocom of Texas.
The family sends special thanks to Dr. George, Corrine and the Palliative Care Unit for the outstanding care and compassion shown to Mabel during her final hours, and a special thanks to Rhonda at Dadson Funeral Home.
A family memorial will take place in July 2020.
Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Mabel may be made to the Flin Flon/Creighton SPCA as she always loved to have a cat on her lap.

Posted at 08:21pm Mabel was one of the finest people I had the pleasure to work with. Her joie de vivre was infectious. We were so happy to have reconnected with her in Mercedes a number of years ago. May your wonderful memories surround you with comfort. Wendy and David Paton

My condolences to Mabel’s family. I meet her through Kathy Lavis at Bakers Narrows, as she was the next door neighbor.

She always had hello and visit whenever you met her.

Keep your memories she was a special lady.

Mabel (Mac) and Reg are a part of so many of my childhood memories of summers activities at Bakers Narrows...Mac contributed some additional details as I struggled to document some Whiteley family stories over the past year...They both live on in my heart and memories...My thoughts are with Jim, Anita and family...Ron Whiteley

Sarah and I were so sorry to hear about Mabel''s passing. She was one of the first people we met in Flin Flon and her enthusiasm for bridge meant that we developed a close friendship. She was always positive and had such a sense of humour and zest for life. Really, a remarkable person
