Mom was born in a station house along a railroad track on May 31, 1935 during a snow storm. She was a tiny baby that displayed quiet determination in her will to survive.
She used that quiet determination throughout her life when facing new challenges. Her many challenges included raising five children, learning to drive a car in her forties, and running a business in her fifties.
She had a sweet generous spirit and always managed to see the good in people. She opened her home to numerous people in need throughout the years. The word no did not seem to be in her vocabulary. She was always available to offer encouragement and advice to family and friends without judgement.
She made friends through the years that were considered part of the family circle. Mom loved to prepare her special recipes and there were many holiday dinners hosted in a loving atmosphere.
Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed spending time with them and spoiling them with much love and pancakes.
Her passions included old time dance, singing, the girl guides and brownies, crossword puzzles, and reading books.
She was a devout member of the First Baptist Church and considered their members her second family.
Mom was predeceased by her son Kelly and her loving husband Bob.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Virge (Paulette), Diana, Debbie, Kris (Kevin) her daughter-in-law Debra, her stepchildren Gord (Annette), Barb (Greg) her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and special friends.
